Dear friends,
Attached is the reply I received from the office of president of Croatia after I raised the question about why Mr. Mesic has congratulated Ahmadinejad. You may want to send a similar email asking the same question. I am not convinced with their response. Of course other European countries are aware of diplomatic connections but it is just the matter of timing.

Dear mr. Askari,

President of the Republic of Croatia, mr. Stjepan Mesic, after President Ahmadinejad officialy took over, as president in his second term, sent him a short congratulation, as it is usual in the context of relations between countries that have diplomatic connections. By doing so, Croatia did not renounce its history of fighting for freedom, nor did it in any way comment on the current situation in Iran.
