Solo-Album mit neuen Kompositionen für Daf und Tombak  
 

GREEN HANDS stellt die neuesten Kompositionen Mohammad Reza Mortazavis vor und gibt einen Einblick in das künstlerische Schaffen des Ausnahmemusikers. Mortazavi erschafft mit Tombak oder Daf, zwei traditionellen iranischen Handtrommeln, Klänge orchestralen Ausmaßes. Seine Spieltechnik geht weit über die Grenzen der Tradition hinaus. 

Die Daf, im persischen Raum hauptsächlich von islamischen Sufis gespielt, ist eine Rahmentrommel, die häufig zeremoniell verwendet wird. In ihrem Rahmen sind Metallringe angebracht, die der Trommel ihren einzigartigen Klang verleihen. Die Tombak hat die Form einer Birne und einen unvergleichlichen melodischen Klang. Schon früh begann Mortazavi neue Schlag- und Fingertechniken und Effekte für die beiden Instrumente zu entwickeln und revolutionierte damit das Spiel. Bis heute hat er 30 neue Techniken erfunden, die es erlauben, differenzierte Melodien zu spielen.  

GREEN HANDS ist auch eine Auseinandersetzung mit den gesellschaftspolitischen Ereignissen im Iran 2009 und Mortazavi widmet seine „Grünen Hände“ der „Grünen Phase“ des Iran. Grün steht hier für die Farbe der Natur, des Wachstums und des Neuen.  

Mortazavi kam zeitgleich zur Iranischen Revolution vor 30 Jahren zur Welt und etwas vom revolutionären Geist dieser Zeit hat sich auch auf ihn und sein Schaffen übertragen. Mortazavi ist ständig auf der Suche nach eigenständigen musikalischen Ausdrucksformen. Er versteht seine musikalische Arbeit als einen fortwährenden Prozess, der um die Befreiung aus den Zwängen der Konvention ringt. Seine technische Perfektion paart sich mit einem überschäumenden spielerischen Trieb, voller Neugier und Offenheit. GREEN HANDS ist der Versuch, sich von den eigenen und musikalischen Zwängen zu befreien.

IRAN: Famous singer Shajarian decries 'Language of Fire'

 Iran is all abuzz about a new politically charged song (MP3 excerpt) by Mohammad Reza Shajarian, Iran's greatest living master of traditional Persian music.
